SCULPTURE
Once the design has been approved the sculpting can begin, first, an armature is made of which there are many different methods depending on the item being carved, i personally use several and on this occasion two simple wires are sufficient.
The wax is then added and the sculpt is built up slowly, the waxes most commonly used come in many different forms and in different levels of hardness, Chavant is used for most of my work in the UK.
On this occasion because the sculpture is a licensed product it will go for approval when 80% is completed. Once approved the details need to be added before going for final approval, usually the last 20% of the work takes 80% of the time, only when there is full approval can an item go to moulding. If the item is a non-license product there is no need for the approval process.
